Expo feature to show building process

17 March 2011

Global Modular Housing (GMH) looks set to be an eye-catching exhibitor at the Building & Home Improvement Expo, where it will construct a building from scratch on site.

Entailing a life size building to be completed over the three days of the show, the GMH installation will include a glass walk-through observation tunnel, photographic and video displays, a mobile showroom, and displays on wall construction and cladding.

CEO Ashok Krishnamurthy confirmed the feature was intended to showcase GMH's expertise in wall-panel systems offering sustainable, environmentally friendly, energy efficient, fire and termite resistant alternatives to traditional building methodologies.

GMH's presence at the fair marked a key new chapter for the company, he added. Following its recent acquisition by Hong Kong headquartered Winport International Limited, the resulting synergies would facilitate GMH's objective to become a major supplier of high quality, technically advanced construction systems in the Australian market. Findings by the company's recently opened research and development facility in Melbourne had confirmed an emerging local market eager to adopt modern and energy efficient building systems, Krishnamurthy said.

"To launch the new Australian venture, we are establishing a network of distributors around Victoria and displaying a range of our products at the Building & Home Improvement Expo to increase brand awareness and explain the overall benefits of our systems."

"With all new products it is important to educate your customers in the features and benefits, which often are not obvious. Generally the public only get to see the building process from outside, looking through a fence. However, at this exhibition we have a working display and through this we hope to interact with potential customers and allow them to view the building process from the inside."

Global Modular Housing was incorporated in the mid 1970s by CSR Building Products, to produce ‘house in a box' systems that could be shipped to remote sites and erected quickly. The business was acquired by the current shareholders around 10 years ago and continued to supply housing to mining projects around the world. In 2003 Global added manufacturing to its business structure and established a building panel and roof truss factory in Dubai, U.A.E., servicing contracts in Nigeria and reconstruction work in Sri Lanka following the Asian tsunami.

GMH's new parent company Winport International is a diversified firm specialising in a wide range of products and services & solutions to enhance the quality and comfort in houses and buildings. The company typically functions as a one stop shop for large scale developers, local governments and investment companies seeking partnerships with world-class building companies in high end residential, commercial and retail projects, as well as affordable housing.
