Sustainability continues to be a hot topic in the building trade, but one area we haven't focused on is sustainable building materials. These have proven a positive not only for the environment but also as a healthier option for people working in the supplier chain, the installers and the residents.

According to Anthony Lieberman of Australian Living these materials are often forgotten about when builders and designers talk about sustainable or green homes - their focus is more on energy efficiency. Although the property industry does not directly emit large amounts of carbon, it is responsible (indirectly) for approximately 24% of Australia's Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
